The Man : Solace in the Dark

In pitch darkness, under a moonless sky sat alone a man absorbed in his own thoughts. He is oblivious to the darkness and the passing cold breeze. In fact, the quietness and darkness is his ally. He is a man with a good heart who seeks to delve deep into himself under a peacefulness, with his normal senses uncalled-for. And the man finds solace now, in touch with nature With no disturbing noises and with no speck of light save for the tiny sparks of the twinkling stars.

The man likes to be alone under the ancient light of these stars. It seems that he and the stars has built an intimate bond and that stars smile up on him each night when they see him. At least he thinks so. These ancient specks of light in the vast sky has been witnessing the man come out of his shelter to be under the open sky each night at this hour; just as these stars has witnessed all wars and all romances of this world from the beginning of the  world.

The Man sat in the darkness listening to his heart, and looks up at the vast sky. He sees the dark clouds and the beautiful stars. But as he gazes at the stars, its not the stars he thinks of. The stars make him closer to nature and makes him think of nature's beauty. And the thought of beauty and the feeling of beautifulness makes him think of a certain beauty and beautifulness that has whisked past his life making an unforgettable mark he can never forget.

In fact, it is that Beauty that brings him here at wee hour of the night, tonight and all the other nights. It is that beauty, how she has touched him, and his heart's longing for that beauty that has made a habit out of him to rise at this dark hours and go out  to be under the sky and  be in touch with nature.

With a prayer on his lips, the man gazes at the stars and into nothingness. Sometimes, he stays this way till dawn. Somethimes tears forming in his eyes. sometimes with a smile on his lips, but always with a pain in his heart.

Tonight he is thinking how all this has started. How a seed of love got planted in his heart from a place least expected and how it has blossomed at a least expected time. How it has brought him sweetness yet a bitterness because how confined he feels unable to attain that Beauty that has radiated love into his soul. Confined by duties and responsibilities. Confined by moral obligations.

Yet he remembered the grave grief he had upon a thought that he may never attain his hearts desire, his Beauty. And that Beauty may well be happy with another. Yes. he e remembers, that grief, how he cried, how tears flowed as his soul collapsed weak and crumbled to the floor. And it is these quiet times with quiet prayers that lifted his soul and spirit. It is that grief that made him look into his inner soul and listen to his hearts whisperings. It is that grief that made him in touch with himself and more aware of his soul and spirit, as it does now, in the quietness of the night.

It is said,

"If eyes were a window to the soul, then grief is the door.
As long as it is closed, it is the barrier
between knowing and not knowing...
Walk away from it and it stays closed forever.
But open it and walk through it,
And Pain becomes Truth."

And the man, he knows the pain, he knows the truth. And he believes each passing night is a step taken on a swerving staircase that shall bring him close to happiness.
